Imagine if parents weren't involved? How much more fun would the kids have? How much quicker would they develop without all the pressure from the parents. Obviously, you'd need good coaching, but taking away that pressure would be a world of difference for hockey in Canada.
Love this, yes take away parents over involvement......and you would also equally need to remove every single coach in the loop/gthl and restructure the entire development model in a hierarchy (military delivery) where the coaches are trained and have oversight to implement the LTAD properly......or they are removed!
Current system is extremely outdated (1960's) volunteer model....and they volunteers coaches simply don't know what they don't know! This includes coaches that have played professionally as there is so much more to know to properly develop kids in elite sports (like 200% more then just knowing hockey)
At this point you have a GREAT development program!
Get rid of the leagues and create 1 super league 16 teams max east, west north and south. Open borders building programs and forcing parents to play their kids at their level. Better development and less crazies.
Even better, create two national training centres. One in Vancouver and on in Toronto. Have it fully funded and provide two high performance (HP)teams in each age group from U -13 to U -18.
- players selected receive a full periodized program supported by the top hockey resources in Canada ( coaches and sport science)
- selection process is intensive, science backed and bio-banded. So you are selecting the highest calibre athletes in Canada .
Sounds like you should move to Russia.
Or Australia, England , Spain , Italy, USA etc
all have high performance training centres. Sounds like you live in an igloo when it comes to sports!

No one buying DDM bs this year, seems like parents finally figuring out it’s time to leave. Majority of new players that came this year are out along with a few others. Will be hard to replace, maybe with some more AA kids to make his kid look better.
