It’s good hockey and good teams. Vk just not playing at the level they did to get here. No excuses.
VK got hot at the right time to win GTHL. Season would tell you they were the 4th or 5th best team in the G. Lucky to get to final four. Won two very close games to get to the final and then matched up well against NYR. All credit to VK for making it, but they just aren’t that good defensively or consistently good in net
The VK coaches squeezed every ounce of potential to win the GTHL. If JRC and NYR were in that tournament, they run over the competition. Both coaches blundered big time and lost it for their teams, they took VK for granted and it ended up with an embarrassing showing for the GTHL at a big tournament. You got the OMHA faithful talking smack, but looking at the draft 11 First round picks from GTHL, 87 kids picked… right league wrong teams.
https://chl.ca/ohl/draft/ look it up for real. GTHL isn't the pinnacle of hockey that you think it is. Kids get drafted from everywhere. If you aren't an elite kid, stay with your local team that keeps the same core kids for multiple years. you will be come a better more complete hockey player that has the simple attributes that scouts are looking for: High level of compete, good team mate and executes the hockey fundamentals.
11 first rounders from GTHL. It is by far the best league. 40% of the league got drafted...
Actually 11/23 first rounders played in the GTHL BUT 4/11 of those actually live in or came from outside of the GTHL borders. So 7/23 are actual GTHL players. So….the GTHL is. a good league only because of imports. Imagine how good the league would be without them.

You nailed it. Just because a kid is born in OMHA territory means NOTHING! They develop and learn the game in the G, so they are GTHL bred players.
87 picks from the G was almost 30% of the draft. Enough said.

How many of those spots were earned and how many got paid for?

How many developed in the OMHA and moved to the G later?

there's 4 leagues in Ontario and

What’s considered G bred? 1 season? 2? 3?

JW as per usual got a few terrible kids drafted, for a nice big fee Of course. However what this shows is that if you are on a top 2-3 team in the GTHL, you have a 70-85% chance of getting drafted, if you are a top 3-4 player on a top team you will be a top 2 round selection.

Just because you are top now means dick all. OMHA, Us kids quebec kids are all coming to take your ice time now.

Alot of those 5"5 dads who think their kid is a stud, are in for a wake up call over the next few years. Especially the ones with out much skill and have hit early puberty.

It will be a slow decline, but by u16 you end up where you deserve

nice to see that the vocabulary and grammar on this chat hasn't improved. I'll go back to my original point: If your kid is an elite talent, then go play in the "G". But, there is a path to get to Jr hockey where the probability is just as high if you play on a good team, with good coaching that teaches the skills and habits required to play hockey at a higher level. And it is probably at a fraction of the price, the kids aren't treated like a commodity and ice time isn't for sale.

At this age group the G will be the super league. 100% agree that non-G teams just dominated the Ontario championships. But the top 4 G teams were all at home because VK took care of business. As more and more kids come into the G this coming year and likely for U15/U16 that will be where the balance of power is. Barrie, Chatham and other centers that can put together strong programs will still be top end teams, but game in and game out the Top 6-8 teams in the G will just be better competition. May not like myhockeyrankings, but it gives you a pretty good sense of where the teams all stack up. Barrie, Chatham, NB would have all been competitive in the G this year. The rest, not so much.
