First off commits to both teams can be pulled by coaches pretty much anytime up to that tournament. If they are using a tournament team to extort parents i to playing for their club team what does that say about them.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 9:39 amMy kid got the same offer, several parents in same boat. They have offered 25 kids spots on TM next yr.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 9:14 am I have a question if anybody else has experiences or if I’m standing alone in this situation. My son was offered a spot on the TBD Brick team that seem to be contingent on him becoming a TM. The power of suggestion at the time of the conversation about Brick was alluding to him having to play both once I spoke with my son. He doesn’t wanna change his current coaching staff or team as he’s happy and comfortable after discussing these concerns with the TBD, coaching staff or head of staff They explained to us that my son wasn’t good enough to be able to leverage not playing with both that he would only be chosen if he can commit to a full season at TM . Is this common? I’ve never heard anything like this from PhD parent I spoke to. Can somebody please touch on this?
It felt super disrespectful to hear that I’m not sure how to explain the situation to our son. Anybody else having a problem with this?
If your kid is happy playing where he is keep them there. Take a family vacation same time as the tournament and no one will even think of it.
And lastly its a tournament played in a mall
In Edmonton
In July.
Quite frankly I am surprised some other group has not come up with a better tournament during the same time in a better location and facilities.
1. The Brick is the be all and end all. Puts your kid on track to make the NHL. Spend every dollar possible to make it happen for your kid.
2. My kid is talented enough to make a Brick team but I'm not going to bend over backwards for it. I admit it's the top tournament for 10 year olds.
3. Brick schmick. Waste of money. Kid is talented enough to be there but no chance I'm spending that money. Will instead do other high calibre tournaments and save 15k.
4. You guys are all nuts. My kid is gonna play baseball this summer.

Reid Acton, Don Mills Flyers U15 (2010) head coach and owner of Beast Athletics and Bob Acton Sports, used his reputation in the community and within the Don Mills organization to keep Michael Hollander in his position as Head coach of the U12 (2013) Don Mills Flyers team.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 10:20 pm Whoever in the Don Mills organization protecting the 2013 Head Coach from being removed from his position on the U12[Minor Peewee] AAA hockey team and allowing the payments from parents to the Head Coach and to the organization for him to remain in his position is a cancer to minor hockey, especially to the families of the East End Toronto, and are yet another black eye on the Greater Toronto Hockey League.

Michael Hollander has not been successful as Head Coach with the 2013 age group for the past three years. He has struggled to stay out of the bottom six. He has lost some of the most skilled players to other teams every year for past three years, He has alienated every single Toronto family, mostly Toronto East End families. Michael Hollander has been suspended by the Greater Toronto Hockey League multiple times and expelled from sanctioned tournaments for cheating. Reid Acton’s protection of Michael continued to set this age group up for failure and allow wealthy families from outside Toronto to influence ice time, roster selection and team budget without consequence. All of this at the expense of the 2013 players and goalies he has coached for three years.
There are serious questions on sponsorships, paid training selection and training facility contracts for the return of how the team is managed and developed. Most people seem to be aware of the individuals with money and its disgusting. Reid Acton, Michael Hollander’s friend and employer, tried to save Michael’s reputation through all of this.
Has Reid Acton succeeded in keeping Michael Hollander in his head coaching position for the long term or is the Don Mills organization back on course with the U12 age group?

This is on OHF - there need to be consequences and accountability in place. There is not. Everything is brushed under the rug in hockey and if you speak up you’re labelled the problem. They have favorite organizations, it’s a big club. I’d say start with sending letters to the GTHL, HOCKEY canada, OHF, and get this picked up by a news outlet. Marketplace could easily do a story on open borders and how corrupt minor hockey is. This website isn’t reputable and invalidates your concerns. Take it to the media to get attention.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 12:11 amReid Acton, Don Mills Flyers U15 (2010) head coach and owner of Beast Athletics and Bob Acton Sports, used his reputation in the community and within the Don Mills organization to keep Michael Hollander in his position as Head coach of the U12 (2013) Don Mills Flyers team.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 10:20 pm Whoever in the Don Mills organization protecting the 2013 Head Coach from being removed from his position on the U12[Minor Peewee] AAA hockey team and allowing the payments from parents to the Head Coach and to the organization for him to remain in his position is a cancer to minor hockey, especially to the families of the East End Toronto, and are yet another black eye on the Greater Toronto Hockey League.
