They are turning a blind eye on their stated rules that "all teams in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) are required to operate as not-for-profit corporations".
I am sure any one of the people who run skates can justify the cost… equipment, web site redevelopment, anything you can think of the “extra money” could be accounted for if you got right down to it.

The fact of the matter is the the above mentioned coach was called out on by the OHF for misleading families week after week. The team has been "full" for a while, on top of which the "assistant coach" is calling the shots on player selection and he doesn't attend the Saturday skates. "Looks Good, I like what I see. bring him/her out again next week". telling that to 50 families for $60 a family, week after week. Strongly agree with the opinion of the above post, the coaches that use their positions of power to profit off of 9 year old kids and their families should be stripped of their teams.

So tired of salty parents. This is our society now. Your kid doesn’t make a team, complain complain complain. Your kid getcuts from a team, whine and complain about the coach. Slander them online. No sense of accountability and completely out of touch with reality. You’re willing to be complicit and go along as long as it benefits you, but will scream and rant as soon as it doesn’t. The hypocrisy of parents.

Is it possible to be unhappy with salty parents and be unhappy with unscrupulous coaches? Or are we only allowed to chose one?

Guest wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 11:55 am Only 3–7 kids from the 2015 GTHL. at best 10, but more likely around 5 will play at least one NHL game. That includes those who will move up to AAA from OMHA, AA, and other provinces or countries in the coming years. A few more will play 5–6 seasons in the AHL or Europe for a salary comparable to a good barber’s earnings.
No matter how talented your child is now, his chances drop significantly if now he isn’t taller than the average for his age group. At 9–10 years old, smaller kids like BP, ZL, TB, and a few others often outperform their peers because they are pushing beyond a sustainable workload for their age. They simply lack the resources for proper growth. Their parents are sacrificing long-term physical development—height and weight being important indicators for short-term success. They will simply fade away in few years. It happened in every age group.
If your child plays on a strong team with a good coach (one of the 4–5 top-mid-level teams in the 2015 loop), is growing well, enjoys the game, and balances school and other activities, then staying in hockey as long as possible will benefit him, even if he doesn’t make the NHL.
However, chasing coaches like from MM, Nats, VK, TT, or TRW makes little sense. Not only will you spend months surrounded by parents who belong in a circus or a zoo as in case of Nats, but you’ll also deal with coaches, who shouldn't coach at all. It won’t be good for your child’s mental or physical health. Just needless waste of time and money that could be spent on something better.
my son is one that is mentioned here. what do you know about our family?

Such a copout. You don’t hear people complaining about ethical coaches who make decisions based on merit. Coaches and organizations aren’t held accountable to their membership and HC AND OHF needs to start
