I think what AMHA is trying to put on is an elite level AA tournament. Really the top AA teams from Ontario at the U14/U15 level come to Aurura. These teams/players can showcase themselves for potential AAA spots the next year up. It will be a springboard to get to AAA and ultimately maybe drafted or college the following couple of years. The point with this elite AA tournament it can help market itself as an elite level AA organization. It will become a top AA players choice, especially being apart of a showcase that AMHA will host.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:32 pmPlease refer to the latest JB tourny hosted by AMHA...... very pitiful, as far as an elite tourny or even a AAA tourny that would be on YSE to get set up, AMHA will have no involvement in that, again please refer to the latest event.....embarrassing to say the least.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:19 amThere's no reason, with some work and excellent volunteers, that the AMHA couldn't host an excellent tournament. It wont be anywhere near the brick, but we could put on something great. Some of our arena's need work though. ACC1 is terrible, tiny dressing rooms, no real concessions, sub par seating. AFLC is fit for practices only, it's impossible to watch a game there. SARC and ACC2 could work, with added things like maybe food trucks, or another way to sell real food. Get someone like Brady films or another hockey influencer to show up..just spit balling.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:39 amWhere could Aurora / AMHA fit in around 'Elite' tournaments?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:31 amZERO chance!!! Re: Aurora Hockey
The board knows he is controversial and will draw so much attention to himself that it will divert focus away from them, which works in their favour since they aren’t doing much good.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:50 pmI'm convinced that this MM guy is brought in strictly to distract from the disfunction of the rest of the age groups in Aurora.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:13 amHe's really not doing his son any favours. Was it a favour when he showed the entire dressing a video of kids playing pond hockey on a snow day and called them selfish, and benched those kids?... a video by the way he had no business taking of other peoples children. Was it a favour when he ridiculed ONE player after a silver stick silver medal to the point that child wanted to quit hockey? Was it a favour when he left a child crying on the bench, and wouldn't allow another coach to console him?? DO THOSE SOUND LIKE FAVOURS TO YOU? Was the JB tournament that bad? I didn't attend, but haven't heard a word about at all, neither in a positive or negative respect. It's almost like it didn't happen at all.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:32 pmPlease refer to the latest JB tourny hosted by AMHA...... very pitiful, as far as an elite tourny or even a AAA tourny that would be on YSE to get set up, AMHA will have no involvement in that, again please refer to the latest event.....embarrassing to say the least.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:19 amThere's no reason, with some work and excellent volunteers, that the AMHA couldn't host an excellent tournament. Re: Aurora Hockey
The JB tournament was successful. The Aurora teams did well. The Earlybird Aurora tournament is a bit more successful in drawing teams. The issue is that Aurora is not attracting the elite AA teams to either tournament. Thus, AMHA thinking making the Earlybird only A/BB tournament divisions. However, the second tournament for U14/U15 would be an elite tournament to showcase the top AA teams in the province. It would be a full notch above the Silver Stick.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:16 pmWas the JB tournament that bad? Re: Aurora Hockey
How can you possibly say succesful??? I now see what others here are saying in regards to the AMHA board, look at how few teams entered, and the lack of quality teams was very evident. It's time for a major overhaul at the board level.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 3:45 pmThe JB tournament was successful. The Aurora teams did well. I suspect these coments are being made by non board members in an attempt to rightfully discredit the entire board,
Re: Aurora Hockey
After hearing the sale of the Brantford Bulldogs to No names Hyman's family, could you ever see the day when AMHA puts itself up for sale?
Re: Aurora Hockey
excuse my ignorance but is that an actual possibilty? who would they be buying it from?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 6:25 pm After hearing the sale of the Brantford Bulldogs to No names Hyman's family, could you ever see the day when AMHA puts itself up for sale?
Re: Aurora Hockey
Amha is a NFP, it cannot be sold like the junior A teams . Open borders will solve this issue, Aurora won’t last 2 more years. It has been a way for certain staff and exec to extract $$ for years, when that dries up they will lose interest and all of the well intentioned parents and kids will be long gone.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 7:02 pmexcuse my ignorance but is that an actual possibilty? who would they be buying it from?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 6:25 pm After hearing the sale of the Brantford Bulldogs to No names Hyman's family, could you ever see the day when AMHA puts itself up for sale?
Re: Aurora Hockey
I don't think all that many will leave. Everyone like to whine and complain, but nobody does anything... look at 2012 AA, the coach that is there, nobody wants him, but nobody else puts in for the team either. its the same thing throughout the association.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 7:41 pmAmha is a NFP, it cannot be sold like the junior A teams .
