Aurora Hockey
Re: Aurora Hockey
Let's wait and see who the selected coaches will be. If the wrong choices are made, AMHA might have to fold some teams, which is what happened with U18 this season.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:17 amThis is exactly how it is executed with AMHA. NOBODY is as awful as the new guy. CS is just a tool, that knows nothing about hockey. Joe wasn’t all that bad, he started off with his heart in the place, I think he only went wrong by not keeping CS on a leash and letting him run rampant. Over the years you just lose your passion for it.. I think that what happened to JB.. him and his wife are lovely people, just nothing left for minor hockey. It happens.
A leader would identify the mould they are trying to fill, and look for the people that could fill that gap identified by the leadership.
One requires brainpower and competence, the other: a heart beat.
In reality, they are/should be picking the best candidate who applied. I'm not sure how involved you are with your association but I can tell you it's very difficult these days getting volunteers and you will take anyone who can pass the VSC and take the HC training.
Throughout the year, board members should be engaging with parents/coaches/kids/volunteers, etc to see if there are other coaching options out there and available. The good coaches don't usually move organizations once they find a good one.
With open borders, you may stumble upon some new coaches but be wary of why they are moving organizations.
At the end of the day, if you run an association that people want to come to, you will find good coaches easily.

Looks like the only thing they’re building is their restaurant loyalty points, true elite-level scouting… for steak specials.
