OHF Opening borders??
Re: OHF Opening borders??
Oakville will not be playing in the G
This is from a high source at GTHL.
Oakville is scrambling to try and keep their kids because they know they will lose their top kids

Haven’t they always? Some kid named Tavares comes to mind.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:26 am Oakville will not be playing in the G

If the GTHL doesn't agree to let Oakville join then it won't happen. Oakville has nothing to do with it. They tried it 10 years ago and the OMHA wouldn't let them leave. Oakville is a not for profit organization. You think the G wants a team that charges half to be a part of the league? You think the Marlies, Nat's, Vaughan or JRC will agree to it?
Look at almost everything else they talk about. These are all things organizations should have been doing. Good on them for talking about making changes but they only decided to do it because of the announcement. This is still the same organization that until today would tell you if you asked for a release "no", your children were their property.
For what it's worth, wait a year and see if they actually do any of what they said.
I agree with this, take anything Oakville says with a grain of salt. These are the same people who told us a few short months ago that if my child leaves for the KSL, 'don't ever show your face at Oakville tryouts again because you won't be welcomed back.' Pretty stark contrast to this seemingly progressive messaging they released. Let's see how this plays out.
Re: OHF Opening borders??
They always do this really changes nothing. Maybe 1-2 kids per age group from Oakville will jump that previously were too lazy to fake an address but this isnt going to be the huge shift for the G that mattersGuest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:35 amHaven’t they always? Re: OHF Opening borders??
My understanding for the upcoming season is that no category changes will be allowed.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:25 pm As I understand it , associations cannot add any new teams (ie, adding a BB rep team where it doesn’t already exist this season ). How would this apply to associations where they plan to move up a level(ie, B centre currently , moving up to single A as an association)? That isn’t “adding” a new rep team and only competing at a higher level of rep than the current season .
Re: OHF Opening borders??
Lots of OMHA centers that did this, including my own. I am glad we won't need to go back there now. This is a great result for my son.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:41 amGuest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 5:18 pm Read Oakvilles announcement very carefully. They are great at distorting the truth. Re: OHF Opening borders??
False. Borders are open. It specifically says Local League always has been. Go spew your nonesense somewhere else.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 3:56 am It's already started. W.O.A.A sent out messages saying they will continue to region lock Local League and will be locking down rep as well forcing all orgs to not allow imports.
Be interesting to see how many kids who get cut in Sprng from B\BB attend the fall B\BB tryouts in the other centers. ORHL commitments would happen before then. This might actually have the effect OHF wants to kill off leagues like the ORHL.
Re: OHF Opening borders??
Is there any information on whether GTHL will be allowing more imports per team. AA is at 3 and I think several teams are maxed out already. If this stays in place I can't see there being a lot of change from what it is now.
Re: OHF Opening borders??
That speaks more about who you are as a person. The post was immediate, their plan sounds well thought out, and compared to the alternative of saying nothing, I think it was a great way to set the bar for all other associations. Now all they need to do is executeGuest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:55 am Oakville post comes off as desperate imo
