I’ve heard there will be no caps on how many non resident players play on a team but above posters say there will be caps. What’s the truth?

There is no cap from OHF. Organizations can create internal rules on how many imports to take, and then use the subsidized ice as a reason. However, it is going to depend on the board and more specifically, how many board members’ kids are on the bubble for their existing team…

In our area, it seems the board won’t be setting any limits because they want the $$$ and it will significantly strengthen our teams. Especially at the lower levels where some of the weaker kids on higher level teams should be playing.

I don’t think the GTHL has to worry about any teams taking on too many imports 🤣
The best players are already in their league

Local article and Oakville states that the Oakville Rangers are not too happy because kids from Oakville will go to Barrie to play. That’s quite funny but they also stated that there will be no caps/limits.

Typical of the Oakville president, he pushed for unlimited imports at AAA a few years ago and got what he wanted. To the point that the 2008 AAA team from 2 years ago had 10 imports to 7 local kids. The guy can’t decide if hometown hockey is what he wants or freedom of movement.

Ha. There has never been a cap. Not sure how people get their information. It’s all based on what the org decides. The omha does not care. Why do you write this stuff when you have no idea what you’re talking about. My sons omha team has 7 imports right now. But apparently there is a rule that it’s capped at 4? Common people. Get the facts straight.

Currently it’s 4 imports at AAA so how is it possible to have 7 unless they are coming in with address changes then obviously they are not classed as imports. With open borders the existing rule of imports no longer applies. Orgs will decide on capping or leaving it open. I think it will be non capped.

Just curious which org in the Oakville area is better? Burlington? Milton? Hamilton/Glancaster? Regardless of the Oakville executive, do you honestly think kids are going to flock to those other orgs? I'm sure at least half the players in Burlington are already making plans to leave LOL

“Half the players in Burlington making plans to leave”. You sir are a clown. The Rangers organization is no better than the Eagles. The only thing you should be chasing is a coach and the environment he creates. Leaving one centre because another is “better” is fools gold. Rangers have their share of great coaches as well as their share of guys who should never have been given a team. Absolutely no different than Burlington or Milton. Crest and logo mean nothing.
Sorry to hurt your feelings but Burlington has not one good coach in the program.
Just look at it once you play U12 AAA in Burlington by the time you get to U18 they keep 3 Burlington kids and pick up
All talent from elsewhere proves they have terrible Development

Open borders will prove your point then. If the organization is so bad, kids will leave and they won't have enough to field teams.

What age group? Some of the older age groups (08,09,10) may have been grand fathered in with unlimited imports at AAA. OMHA removed Import caps at AAA a few years ago but then changed the rule again to cap the # of imports after a couple seasons.
