Guest wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 3:20 pm Does anyone have any insight/information for the Scarborough Young Bruins? Apparently they are recruiting heavily and have committed quite a few AAA players for next year. Any insight into the coaches, their program, etc.?
Im doubtful that the second last place team is recruiting a "Few" AAA players.
They looked like they were going to be a strong team this year. Something just isn't clicking. Not sure if it's chemistry or coaching. But they should've been doing better then what they are currently doing. Not sure how well the team will hold up after the playoffs. Apparently lots of parents are looking elsewhere.
Watching the Oakville tournament and was able to catch a few AAA games , not a single kid in AA would make the jump to AAA , the intensity and speed of AAA is only getting better , faster and stronger.

If you are all mad at ice time in AA , let me tell you if you by fluke make AAA your kid might get 2 shifts max.
I was in Oakville this weekend too. AA players are so far behind AAA it's not even funny. Completely different game. AA is filled with A and select players. AA is an absolute joke currently. Could kids develop and progress? Absolutely but the level is embarrassingly low across the board.
So was I. Sure some players are super advanced. But 5 kids per team max. Their 1-3 kids on AA that could move up on most team and you wouldn't know the difference.
More like 3-4 kids on the top 4 teams, 1-2 on the next 4 and none or 1 below that.

the best coaches are in the east. that is a fact. professional and know how to teach the game. sure the best teams are in the west but that's cuz there's more kids out there and they all migrate to the same teams. go to skates in the east and thank me leater.
This. SIR is the top in the East for actual coaching. The worst is NYK.
What's wrong with the NYK coach. Because he's loud and not the typical parent coach that's OK with just showing up. And he wants kids that want to be there.
Aren’t you suspended, NYK coach? Or is this the other one?

Screaming at kids and shortening a bench in a mid season game, first period, is not coaching. You took kids that didn’t make AAA and call it a “program”. That’s some development you’ve done.

Keep wandering around rinks begging other top kids to join your team next year, nobody is coming.
Sounds like the comment of a parent whose child was cut from the team. If you’re looking for equal ice time, house league might be a better fit. Ice time is earned through effort and performance—if your child isn’t giving their best at practice or during games, they shouldn’t expect more. Too many parents here seem out of touch. Choosing a coach isn’t something you do in a forum; you attend their practices, talk to the parents of players on the team, observe their drills, and watch how the team performs during games. It’s not difficult to assess a coach’s style and strategy. One last piece of advice: steer clear of teams with parent coaches.
I met the NYK coach recently and had a good conversation with him. He's played the game at a high level and he cares. Definitely a good option for kids next year. If you don't believe me reach out to him yourself.

The race in the west is heating up for that 6th playoff spot!
NYK coaches are amazing. There’s a reason they are doing so well.

NT moves the puck really well. My kid plays in the west but no team passes it around like NT.

Agreed. Most kids on that team stayed together for past 3-4 years (in the red and green cds program). Passed puck really well. Too bad they lost in the final.

Looks like NT and NYK coaches are posting again. Recruitment must not be going well.

NT has a huge pool of kids. Not sure they are recruiting. And if they are. Call me back ffs. My AAA kid doesn't want to play AAA anymore.

And for reason is this? Poor experience? Coaching? Losing? All of the above?
