Yes. Parents and the child are also responsible for the child’s development. Coaches see them a few hours a week. The kids who succeed are the kids that work away from the rink, watch hockey and eat nutritious foods. My son was not strong last year.. he put in work and is now doing great. Coaches cannot take the credit for his development.. he did that for himself. Mm.. I would say Chatham, EMC and LGK are all very strong. Next year will be interesting to see who moves where.
Chatham doesn’t “need” anything but a few of their current players could be edged out by the open borders
EMC needs better goalies and a few defence
LGK needs better defence and could also use 1 goalie
LJK has 2 solid goaltenders.
LGK needs d
Chathams good
Chatham takes kids who were passed on and turns them into hockey players. That’s why they’re good.
Individually some kids are failing to progress.. and others are getting better .. that is life
Kids plateau.. some younger, some older.. Chatham had kids that were on their team last year, that didn’t make it this year.. did their coach fail to develop those kids? Or did they just plateau.
LGK is in 3rd.. are they not developing to be able to beat Chatham? Or are the kids just doing their best?
EMC is in 2nd.. they lost a great forward with some scoring power. They are still also doing great.
And again.. the top three team are all doing really good.

It is also very clear to see which kids are failing to progress and the direct correlation to how they spend their time away from the rink. This isn’t a specific team issue.. you can see it every game with every team.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 7:57 amif this makes you feel better, but it’s clear to people watching.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 7:50 amYes. Brantford and Waterloo top players need to figure out a way to play together. London and Elgin will swap a few kids and end up the same. Chatham has been quiet but I assume there will be a lineup of people wanting to play there.

Kids and their parents are failing to progress, the issue is parents are pushing these off ice skill sessions too much.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:04 amIt is also very clear to see which kids are failing to progress and the direct correlation to how they spend their time away from the rink. What makes Chatham a head above the rest is team play, they have been coached how to play the game as a group.
LJK has also done a decent job of this.
You may not have the best talent skill wise but work together as a group and good things will happen.
Skills are good but most kids aren’t number 97 and will never be. The game gets tighter as they get older and if they don’t know how to move the puck quicker player aren’t going to last at the AAA or elite levels. I think Chatham has done an excellent job at teaching this.
It sounds like you focus too much on your own kids skill development than buying into a team environment!
Maybe you start every conversation telling people how much your kid and bench.

When coaches only focus on developing their pet players and it becomes more about what’s on gamesheet than what actually happens on the ice it shows. I agree kids need to spend time working outside of league, but often times that doesn’t matter because the coaches buddy’s kid will always take priorityGuest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:25 amKids and their parents are failing to progress, the issue is parents are pushing these off ice skill sessions too much.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:04 amIt is also very clear to see which kids are failing to progress and the direct correlation to how they spend their time away from the rink. Re: Alliance 2012 Hockey
Why is Elgin the team that comes up repeatedly regarding toxic development in every alliance thread. Outside of the gta they are the most hated team. Are they so good people love to hate, or is there an age wide issue with coach selection, team play, politics and morale?Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:13 amWhen coaches only focus on developing their pet players and it becomes more about what’s on gamesheet than what actually happens on the ice it shows. Re: Alliance 2012 Hockey
Every team has their own drama.. however if you look back at the thread it’s the same guy posting about them over and over. They caused issues and were asked to not be managers anymore. Took it hard and just never let it go. The kid wasn’t bad, had friends.. but parent drama is terrible. It’s not just online, if you look back you will also see that he causes problems at the rink now too that his kid moved.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:44 amWhy is Elgin the team that comes up repeatedly regarding toxic development in every alliance thread.
