LJK has also done a decent job of this.
You may not have the best talent skill wise but work together as a group and good things will happen.

Skills are good but most kids aren’t number 97 and will never be. The game gets tighter as they get older and if they don’t know how to move the puck quicker player aren’t going to last at the AAA or elite levels. I think Chatham has done an excellent job at teaching this.

It sounds like you focus too much on your own kids skill development than buying into a team environment!

Maybe you start every conversation telling people how much your kid and bench. ! They can be as strong as they like but if they have zero hockey sense you’ll be left behind.

Why is Elgin the team that comes up repeatedly regarding toxic development in every alliance thread. Outside of the gta they are the most hated team. Are they so good people love to hate, or is there an age wide issue with coach selection, team play, politics and morale?

Every team has their own drama.. however if you look back at the thread it’s the same guy posting about them over and over. They caused issues and were asked to not be managers anymore. Took it hard and just never let it go. The kid wasn’t bad, had friends.. but parent drama is terrible. It’s not just online, if you look back you will also see that he causes problems at the rink now too that his kid moved.

Actually, every team doesn't have drama. Neither of my kids teams have drama. EMC is known for the toxicity for a reason and the poster is right, it's not just this EMC team, it's almost every age group. It's open borders, let your kid tryout where you think they have the best chance of making it, with the team with the best development, coaching and environment.

Yes. Parents and the child are also responsible for the child’s development. Coaches see them a few hours a week. The kids who succeed are the kids that work away from the rink, watch hockey and eat nutritious foods. My son was not strong last year.. he put in work and is now doing great. Coaches cannot take the credit for his development.. he did that for himself. Blaming a coach is a big cop out to bandaid your feelings
