Every team seems to want to intimidate SIR but it doesn’t seem to work. If teams would put forth a better effort into playing the outcomes might be different. It was a cheap hit but the kids wrist isn’t broken.
It was a great hit tbh
Enjoy the susy #50 - great way to end your season. And your coach is caught on a hot mic telling the SIR coach to "STFU" after you lost. It wasnt a ref issue, its a coach issue for Leaside.
Same this happened to us when we played Leaside. Once the game is out of reach the stupid hockey comes out and that all on the coach for not controlling that behavior. This is why they were a bottom team last season and are one again this season.
Sounds like a LF vs VRE Series would be awesome...bunch of sucky children and parents...they can hurt each other all they want and then be so proud of their accomplishments

I do agree, the root reason for both teams acting the way they have, is the coach...it is their responsibility to control the bench and keep the players heads in check.
Can’t wait for the SIR parents to add TR to the list of cheap shot intimidators with horrible people coaching sucky kids. You know it’s coming after the next game!
Nope...no predictions of that happening...TR coach is a solid guy and knows how to control his bench and has respect for the kids they play against...that is the difference. VRE and LF coaches are scumbags

Not at all, this far TRT plays a heavy non dirty game same with the aeros. SIR vs either are always great games to watch. Now the AC of TRT is a baby for sure, especially if you don’t praise his team. That being said TRT are going to be a force for sure

I've noticed a lot of comments about Leaside and how their coaches encourage fighting. But before jumping to conclusions, it's important to understand where these kids are coming from. When you're growing up in a tough neighborhood, sometimes aggression is a way of survival, not just a game strategy. That doesn’t excuse bad coaching, but it does explain why certain attitudes develop. Instead of just criticizing, maybe we should be looking at how to support these kids and give them better opportunities.

Leaside encompasses some of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Toronto and on the other end of the spectrum it also includes Thorncliffe. If the kids from the neighbourhood made up the bulk of the LF team - with the cost of hockey - unlikely they would come from Thorncliffe area.

Like most teams in the loop, the team is made up of kids from the surrounding neighbourhoods including North Toronto, North York, etc. and a few from Leaside proper and maybe even a couple from Thorncliffe.

Not sure I’ve ever seen “tough neighbourhood” and Leaside ever in the same sentence.

Funny how playing SIR turns every team into a bunch of goons and cheap shot artists.

As a top-tier Forest Hill dad, my problem is with numbers 13, 23, and 88 from Leaside. They’re brutal and belong in house league. On top of that, they play dirty as hell. Funny how number 88 used to be third-line and GPR—what a joke. 😭

Leaside is often seen as a tough neighbourhood, with many kids coming from lower income families. Lately, there have been complaints that their hockey team is overly aggressive and that the coach encourages fighting. But I think they’re just misunderstood. The reality is that this coach is doing everything he can to get these kids off the streets and involved in something positive, hockey. Many of them aren’t even paying fees, they rely on fundraisers to cover the costs of equipment and registration. It’s a full community effort to give these kids a chance. On top of that, a lot of them are coming to practices and games hungry. Before people judge, it’s important to remember that not everyone comes from the same environment. Instead of criticizing, maybe we should take a step back and appreciate the effort being made to support these kids.

I didn’t know Forest Hill tiered its dads. Interesting. Can you tell us more about the process?
