Guest wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 9:43 am It’s important for parents to understand that hockey, especially at the single level, is just a fun experience for their kids right now—it's not a stepping stone to professional careers or championships. While it's great to support your child's passion for the sport, it's crucial to remember that the majority of players will only ever play at this level. So, rather than getting caught up in future expectations or living vicariously through the game, it’s time to focus on what really matters: your own life, your own happiness, and helping your child enjoy the present moment. Hockey should be a healthy and fun outlet, not a source of stress or obsession. Let the kids play, and parents, take a step back to relax.
Well put, I don’t think anyone thinks thier kid is going pro but I also don’t need my child being injured based on some reckless kid being a suck. Teach your children to win and lose with grace and respect
If some kid purposely takes cheap shots at my kid, I’m taking it out on the dad in the parking lot.
Tough guy!

Every team seems to want to intimidate SIR but it doesn’t seem to work. If teams would put forth a better effort into playing the outcomes might be different. It was a cheap hit but the kids wrist isn’t broken.
It was a great hit tbh
Enjoy the susy #50 - great way to end your season. And your coach is caught on a hot mic telling the SIR coach to "STFU" after you lost. It wasnt a ref issue, its a coach issue for Leaside.
Same this happened to us when we played Leaside. Once the game is out of reach the stupid hockey comes out and that all on the coach for not controlling that behavior. This is why they were a bottom team last season and are one again this season.
Sounds like a LF vs VRE Series would be awesome...bunch of sucky children and parents...they can hurt each other all they want and then be so proud of their accomplishments

I do agree, the root reason for both teams acting the way they have, is the coach...it is their responsibility to control the bench and keep the players heads in check.
Can’t wait for the SIR parents to add TR to the list of cheap shot intimidators with horrible people coaching sucky kids. You know it’s coming after the next game!
How can all of you make these blanket statements about the coaches of these various teams. Its ok to be passionate. Its ok to curse (at least it always was in hockey) and the coaches do not control what an individual does out on the ice and often times it's too late. Other times they want to stir the pot a bit, nothing wrong with that. I haven't heard of any egregious injuries. everyone needs to cool their jets a bit and chill out. The best team will ultimately win and the kids will go on with life and come back next year. All these tough guy dads. wtf. Im at these games and very few of you look tough to me. relax, enjoy the show, lay off the refs, show some respect for the coaches devoting their time.

I've noticed a lot of comments about Leaside and how their coaches encourage fighting. But before jumping to conclusions, it's important to understand where these kids are coming from. When you're growing up in a tough neighborhood, sometimes aggression is a way of survival, not just a game strategy. That doesn’t excuse bad coaching, but it does explain why certain attitudes develop. Instead of just criticizing, maybe we should be looking at how to support these kids and give them better opportunities.
As a top-tier Forest Hill dad, my problem is with numbers 13, 23, and 88 from Leaside. They’re brutal and belong in house league. On top of that, they play dirty as hell. Funny how number 88 used to be third-line and GPR—what a joke. 😭
I didn’t know Forest Hill tiered its dads. Interesting. Can you tell us more about the process?
bahahahaha.

Leaside is often seen as a tough neighbourhood, with many kids coming from lower income families. Lately, there have been complaints that their hockey team is overly aggressive and that the coach encourages fighting. But I think they’re just misunderstood. The reality is that this coach is doing everything he can to get these kids off the streets and involved in something positive, hockey. Many of them aren’t even paying fees, they rely on fundraisers to cover the costs of equipment and registration. It’s a full community effort to give these kids a chance. On top of that, a lot of them are coming to practices and games hungry. Before people judge, it’s important to remember that not everyone comes from the same environment. Instead of criticizing, maybe we should take a step back and appreciate the effort being made to support these kids.
WTF are you talking about? Get kids off the streets?, lol mean streets of midtown toronto, lol, I've read it all!! I highly doubt (many) aren't paying fees, more like 1 (possibly)

This thread has been taken over by some players and some very odd parents. Trolling levels through the roof.

Wow this chat is a really great place for people to hide behind an anonymous post while chirping 14 year old boys. Calling kids out by their number no matter what they did, is not ok. Should we start calling out the parents and their attitudes in the stands based on their looks so we all know who to look out for? There are a lot of assumptions on this site as to why things are happening in games. Unless you are on the ice listening to all the back talk going on, you don’t know what’s led up to anything out there. Also the refs not calling things lead to escalations and the games get out of hand. The SIR parents telling the LS boys to f*ck off and just go to their change room after the game though, that’s a new low. Do better parents and maybe your kids will act better.
