Agreed. U17 could be the last year before going to University. Meaningless pay big bucks just to fund coaches job.

Agreed. Probably still a couple delusional kids/parents at this age level but most are playing for fun.

At this age, most kids should realize the NHL dream isn’t exactly realistic, so focusing on school is way more important. Worrying about extra development or chasing teams with paid coaches isn’t really necessary. A lot of these “big name” coaches are just running a business, they’ve got two or three teams, hockey schools, camps... your kid’s just a number to them. Honestly, find a team where your kid’s happy, plays good hockey, and has fun. That’s what really matters.

You make some good points but not sure there are any “big name” coaches in U17 AA?
