The GTHL made an error on game sheet #1 that indicated 1 player suspension versus 2. While WH unaware of any wrongdoing they played 1 of those kids in game 2. The scheming ice raiders took note of this. Then they held onto this info, confronted WH with it 20 mins before game 3, and said if they sat the kid in question for game 3 that they wouldn’t protest game 2. WH took their word for it and agreed to sit the player even though they were unsure if he was even suspended. They didn’t have enough time to check with league on protocols, so they took less risky route and sat kid Clearly schemers didn’t expect WH to win game 3.
So, as low life’s do, they reneged on their word, and protested WH win in game 2. Too afraid of the 8th place team I guess. Classless, spineless.
If it had been a clear fault by west hill, and rules were broken, the game would have easily been reversed and the Schemers would be up 4-2 right now, even though they lost game 2 on ice. But it’s not the case. GTHL muddied this too much that they are simply replaying game 2 tonight. Making it as if game 2 never happened. But screen shots live forever. As do reputations. The kids know the reality, the coaches know the truth, and everybody else probably will too.
I’m honestly just trying to figure out what happened here. I’m sorry, but what this person says above makes absolutely no sense. You’re telling me that the SIR coach told the WH coach before game 3 “hey man that kid is suspended and he can’t play” and then the WH coach said “I don’t think so, but I’ll take your word for it!” And then THEY agreed that the kid WON’T play game 3 as long as SIR doesn’t protest game 2, which is a game that the suspended player played in. Huh???? Sorry dude, that makes no sense! That’s not how rules work. The WH coach and SIR coach don’t get to decide this. So a couple things: (A) How did the SIR coach know that a WH player was suspended, but the WH coach didn’t even know this? (B) If SIR wanted the forfeit/win, they could’ve easily just reported it to the G after game 2. Why didn’t they report it to the GTHL to get the win? (C) What would’ve happened if the SIR coach didn’t even tell the WH coach at all? He should’ve just “held onto this information” for longer and let the suspended player play multiple games so that multiple games can be forfeit. (D) Seems like a wild situation for the GTHL to nullify the game and decide to replay it. Not sure I’ve ever seen such a thing!
From what I know from working with the G, things are not perfect, mistakes happen, however they rarely accept responsibility. Its the standard response "you know the rules, not our problem" if something is missed. But please remember these refs and time keepers are young kids just trying to make a buck.

(A) all fighting penalties/ejections carry a suspensions

(B) Agreed

(C) Agreed x2,

(D) Those are the rules of minor hockey for such an incident. Coaches can not dictate any decision, even a their own request. Once it came to the league office, they must deal with it accordingly.

Former G employee

Agreed, if SIR wanted to stick it to WH, they could have waited until WH beat them to raise the point. Seems the GTHL ruled that yes, he was suspended and he did play in a game which is a automatic default in the OHF rules, and adjusted the points as such. I have been around the league long enough and there is no way the coaches can decide what the outcomes are even if they try. It's unfair to be reeming wither of the WH or SIR coach for such things.

Just my 2 cents.
D) the unusual treatment by the GTHL in this outcome shows it’s more than meets the eye. Usually this would result in a forfeit, but instead it alludes to lack of clarity all around, and as has been said, some fault to the GTHL itself in initial protocols. Lots of folks to blame. And kids get hurt along the way.

I agree. Which is why they decided to simply replay the game. Seems like the fair decision.

I was in attendance for tonight’s big SIR vs WH matchup, this was a very exciting game with non stop action. It was a back and forth hockey game, and I think that SIR had the slight upper hand in this game. Anyways I am very excited to watch thursdays game. And can I get information on WH breaking the rules? because right now it says 4-2 in the series for WH and i’m not sure what the actual series score is.

Of course they had the upper had. Their opponents had literally just learned their momentum had been quashed. Hard to play your best after that gut punch.
They all played well though. Fast game.
And SIR parents and coaches very quiet and respectful. Funny how a guilty conscience does that.

WH goalie kept them in it and birdman took them out of it.
