The two can both be true. He can care about the kids and still want what’s best for his kid and move him up. He’ll then care about the kids on his new team. Who cares. Imagine the scenario. You are a little kid with all your hopes and dreams ahead of you. 9 year old you , full of hope for the future, kneels at his bedside and says “god, when I grow up want to be a doctor!” God looks down and says “oh no little Johnny, I have bigger plans for you!”
