2016 AAA
Re: 2016 AAA
Markham will have the coaches son who is nowhere near AAA ready. Stouffville MD kids, last minute AAA cuts… there will be no “official” core.

Not rumours.. truth about Waxers coach and kid.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 1:11 pmWaxers? Yikes… lots of rumours swirling out of Markham about an unqualified coach and son who is nowhere near AAA ready. Any skates happening in Waxer land?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 12:45 pm Can imagine some of the GTHL kids not making the AAA cut going YSE, APR or Waxers.

Re: 2016 AAA
Anyone know where TRW players from? Heard only 4 NS players go to TRWGuest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 3:02 pmNorthern saints going to red wingsGuest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 2:59 pm Makes sense:
Whitby = Young Kings
A/P = Junior Wings
YSE = Purple Cobras T1 + Northern Saints
Peterborough = EOYK (if their top players playing up, come down, then they go up to number 2)
Kingston = Relm Wranglers
Quite = ???
North Shore = Mustangs and Clarington Red Wings
COW = Clarington Redwings and Kawartha Cunucks
Markham = ???
Barrie = Purple cobras T2 and MD
NCP = no idea house league kids I guess?

Shocking.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 1:50 pm100% agree with this post…that being said a portion of a budget is often used to cover sessions with a skills coach/skating coach that works on continuous individual improvement (from my experience anyways).Guest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 1:31 pmThere is no reason why people should be paying $10k for hockey. Its insane, (all of it), but the GTHL takes it to another level.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 8:44 amIf your coach doesnt "do skills" - look for a new coach asap. What are you people talking about these days??Guest wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 10:04 pmSo for $10k a year, you get no skills development? Parents are really expected to spend another $10k on skills?Guest wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:49 pmYou need to understand no team coach will do skills. They expect parents do extra for skill. Coachs won't develop skills, They just replace players with better skillsGuest wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:24 pm
Any team that isn’t focusing on skills is going to fall behind eventually.
Kids should be focused on learning how to play hockey, not learning how to shoot, or skate, etc. (Or at least it should be a small percentage of the time spent on ice).
A perfect practice in my mind:
10% warm up / cool down
20% skills
70% Hockey systems, plays, positioning, video review, white boarding, etc.
If you need to get better at skating, spend your summer skating. If you need a better shot, get in your drive way and shoot pucks, if you need better stick handling, go get a private lesson with a coach.
If you are on my team, our practices are about making the TEAM better.
These are little kids we're talking about.
Skating and skills are key.
Warm up? Cool down?
Video review? Systems?
Seriously!?
Most of the kids can't tie their own skates yet.
Your team may win some games but in term of long term development, your kids will fall behind 100%.
Re: 2016 AAA
It Seems Like Waxers are a little behind the eight ball, looks like the new coach is going to have lots of work ahead of him.
