Have the TRW announced the new coach yet?
Who is their new coach? What happened to the last coach?
1 year suspension for tampering
Families should leave. A handful of AAA teams still have spots with legit coaches and many top AA teams would welcome many of these players. Don’t put your kid through what last years TRW’s players went through.
JV is still on their website. Or was it someone else?
New coach will be announced after card signing. Organization doesn’t want families decommitting at the 11th hour.

OMHA Dad.
The team is basically Ajax and NSW combined. No idea who else is gonna fill the remaining spots. They will he better than last season but how much better is yet to be seen.

Run while you can. Why leave this to chance.
What a bunch of BS. You know damn well that every other team does “development skates” early prior to the fake tryouts in Spring. Why does the hammer get brought down on TRW when out of all the teams they probably need the most help?

I got a somewhat serious question. My kids is improving quickly but might not be AAA material just yet but might not be that far off. What can a person reasonably expect at these “tryouts?” Will the kids that have been tacitly promised spots typically be at the tryouts so we can get a guage on where we stand? If there are a ton of kids, how do they evaluate? If there are multiple days do they typically do invite only for the second day?

Skates are done as official tryouts are this weekend. Kids are committed. They will all be there because those are the rules. You can expect to pay. They are not evaluating your kid because the team is picked. If you want to gauge where you stand you should attend.

I echo this sentiment. Everyone is doing it, why single out one team, regardless of need or not. It's probably a bitter dad from this past season since the entire team was cut. A dad with some clout. It's hard to imagine an average parent getting a seasoned coach suspended. It's total BS. Suspend everyone or no one. Someone definitely had some personal vendetta against the new team and its coaches.

I agree with this because it's the reality of minor hockey. Coaches who aren't doing this will be left behind. TRW are no different than every other team because if you ain't tampering you ain't trying hard enough!
Good Luck at tryouts everybody!! Was at a few pre OHMA and GTHL skates, the difference in skates is not close. The GTHL teams have more intensity while the OHMA has a community feel and not over serious. This is what adds to the allure of the GTHL. This all changes as kids get older as we have seen in recent OHL drafts. However the majority of kids are drafted out of the GTHL and there is no disputing the facts.
Enjoy the process and if you have a commitment great if not its not the end of the world.

1. Depends what OMHA centre. Centres like Barrie Colts and Oakville Rangers typically gets more OHL selections than bottom 5 gthl teams.
2. Switch to gthl around U14 - no need to go earlier and spend 3-4 hours in the car 4X a week any earlier if you are already a top player. Also, mainly the top 6 gthl teams get players drafted so dont bother if its a weak team.
3. Mediocre players who think getting into the gthl early on weak teams will increase their chances om making OHL or playing junior hockey - save your money.
