Meh - I heard that this organization was done when borders open, now it's give it a year so the new people will see how bad it is.

No matter how poorly an organization is run or how bad the coaches, parents, etc are, you will always attract players. The appeal of "playing rep" will be attractive to a lot of people.

As long as there are 15 players and 2 goalies trying out, teams will run. And for an organization like this, they would be smart to hold tryouts later so they can get a lot of cuts from other organizations.

Families will always choose rep over lowering themselves to playing house league, even though there is nothing wrong with house league and saying you play house league. Also, if you find a house league that also runs select, you get that extra bit of competitive hockey at 25% of the price.
This.
Many people aren't care about who the coach is. They just care about the extra A.
That's great parenting. Mental abuse for an extra A in an already crap org. You have to be a next level idiot.

judging by their sentence structure, I would say you are correct.
If anyone thinks the extra "a" is worth the mental abuse suffered, then they deserve what they get.

As already posted, Aurora is taking a leadership position in the AA/A rep team category in Ontario. We will be providing 'Elite' level training to our rep teams, tier 1 coaching, an organization rooted in the community of Aurora and teams competing and winning championships. We have reoriented ourselves around Open Borders and will be thriving as a result. Come to AGM next week and the Board will show you the vision and people that will make AMHA thrive in 2025/2026 and beyond. Our feeder system from house league is even getting stronger. Go Tigers!

I feel bad for the parents that trust these words. Many of them just don't know any better.

Ask El Prez to show off his hockey skills. This is what makes him an expert in development.

This is hilarious because EVERY organization says this. Every single point.

The laugh out loud moment is the Tier 1 coach...............you literally have to have specific coach training through HC to coach at the rep level. The training doesn't say anything about how good of coach you are and every organization says they have top tier coaching.

Of course competing and winning championships is what everyone strives for but what you really want to do is create an environment with your association where kids want to show up to the rink, win or lose, families want to come to your organization, you don't have kids chasing letters, a real sense of community.

I know of a house league association where they almost folded just before covid because numbers were low, and their executive quit because they couldn't get enough volunteers. they were doing triple and quadruple duties. There were some families involved in the association that stepped up to help and they have completely turned around the association. They have families that don't want to leave. They lose a couple kids a year to rep but for the most part, their select teams compete for championships and stay together year after year. Families are so close knit that they go camping together multiple times each year and get together for training in the off season. I'm not just talking about 1 select team, it's all select teams. That's what I want from an organization. That's what I want from my association.

Maybe Aurora and more associations should take a look at this to make some changes. Make your association a destination, not a layover. Most of us know that our kids aren't making the pros so why not give them an experience of belonging, having fun and be part of a hockey family?
