This one seems so different than years past, while some teams are full, there's been a whole bunch of last minute AAA cuts and there seems to still be a lot of undecided/uncommitted players floating around. Heard that some team that "were full" are all of a sudden making some spaces available at the last minute.

Sounds like players went to tryouts last night with one team and will be going tonight and tomorrow to different teams - I don't recall seeing this in the past, it always seemed like team's were full and everyone was committed by tryout time. Will make for some interesting changes that were unexpected.
Last night was chaos in both the GTHL and OMHA. Kids going from one tryout straight to another, 50+ kids on the ice, it's an absolute free-for-all.

Lots of tryouts last night. Any earth shattering signings?

For anyone still looking or unhappy with their current commitment, King City U16AA is having a skate on Saturday and is looking for players.

Really good, young, non-parent coach (with experience, and a Player Scouting & Development Consultant for Jr. B) who is taking over the team after being the assistant coach last year.

Skate is at Zancor Centre at 5:30pm on Saturday.

OMHA has also made changes to York Simcoe for a lot less travel, details here:

If a program is posting here, this is really sad and desperate. I've heard some terrible things about this! Stay far away.

King City brought in a paid coach, he built a super team, it blew up over the weekend, and the paid coach quit Sunday morning. The new coach was the assistant coach last year and in my opinion is going to do very well. Up to you, but if you're looking I would encourage you to come and meet him.

soooo you're saying a new paid coach of the 91st ranked of 94 teams built a "super team" somehow, but then on the weekend decided to blow it up and the remains of that will do "very well." Sounds promising.

Really though, why would anyone in Toronto go and play for this team when they can play for a local sh*t show of a team and save on travel at least.

To whoever posted about the King Minor Hockey tryout – well done! This is exactly the kind of positive and helpful content this site should be used for. Unfortunately, there are a few people here who prefer to criticize kids, coaches, and even other posts. We can do better!
