I was basing my reply from the meeting a couple weeks ago as you are correct that nothing was included in the most recent release. At the meeting they said "members and associations will not be able to recatagorize a team or association to a higher category than what was offered in 2024-2025" This could have changed since then as there is currently no further reference to it.
The last 3 years OMHA has had more draft picks in the O then the G. Give your head a shake , if it was that much better of a league wouldn’t most picks come from the G. Just tells you if your good they will find you .
I just looked back 2 years and indded your are correct, the stats are very compeling.
Math 12 G teams 45 O teams
45 O teams??? Check again. Also if all the best players are in the G by definition they should have all the picks.
12 teams vs 20 and the picks were all within 10 of each other. Means the talent in the G is much deeper for basically there same number of players

You forgot to look back a bit further. Many of those G picks developed in the OMHA. Connor McDavid was a star before he got to the G… They got offered free rides and private schools to jump, don’t blame them.

Here's the actual stats from last year's OHL draft.
GTHL - 76
ETA - 49
SCTA - 43
Alliance - 40
In the first round the GTHL had 11 picks, ETA had 4, SCTA had 3 and Alliance had 1.
Assuming each team has 17 players/goalies the G led in perce stage of players drafted.
GTHL 37%
ETA 26%
SCTA 25%
Alliance 21%
You can try to pair the 2 OMHA leagues to buffer your numbers but the ETA and SCTA have nothing to do with each other.

You can get drafted from and league, but clearly the best players play in the GTHL.

Several years ago a Asst coach I knew from an OHL team asked me to check in on a draft pick of theirs playing Jr. B.

I gave him the info on what I saw, situations played in, ice time points etc.

He said oh I wasn’t sure he still was playing, he was our 15th round pick!

when you make blanket statements about the OMHA being second class your referring to the east and south central but when it’s fitting for you to compare statistics they are different entities . lol

If you are not drafted in the first few rounds, you don’t want to be drafted. You are owned for 2 years and can’t do anything. So who cares.

And you have to ask yourself why did they leave the OMHA and move to play in the G? ‘Cause that’s where the top competition is and the most eyes. Been that way for decades.
