This sums up minor hockey at its finest. MM awarded for his time, irregardless of how his volunteering was to the detriment of so many young players?! The majority of his previous teams have all decided to play elsewhere or at a lower level- all to avoid playing for him again. But yes. Let's give him an award. Forget the kids and their experiences! Another post got it right. Smoke and mirrors.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 5:45 pmGuest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 5:28 pmGuest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 3:28 pmLOL an award giving to him by his fellow board members.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 3:24 pm Hey No names, wow—an award? Impressive! I mean, sure, you haven’t actually volunteered for six years unless “standing there for your kid” counts. But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good ego boost?
I totally get it—attention is hard to come by these days. Still, giving yourself a pat on the back like that? Peak maturity.
Truly inspiring. Be better.
Volunteer award should not be going to a board member.
If he received an outside the organization volunteer award, then yes, congrats, but an internal award voted for by your fellow board members? Just laughable
The awards is a cover up. Corby knows what this town has to say about what a poor excuse of a coach/human being MM is. EVERYONE hates him (even Newmarket can’t stand him). Most dedicated?? Most dedicated abuser is what he is. You couldn’t pay me to leave my son alone in a room with this loser. He’s super creepy. Let the community effing vote!
Other awards were received were they not? Why only post this on the FB page? Trying to prove something? Time to share this thread so it can be known region wide. MM needs to be voted out!!!

Re: Aurora Hockey
One award winner. One organization that has lost 500K in 3 years. Zero accountability.
Re: Aurora Hockey
People should be glad that AMHA is aggressively pushing this award for MM onto parents—it just shows that AMHA is well aware many have seen this thread and know how poorly MM is regarded.

It's very true.
Re: Aurora Hockey
Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. You give yourselves way too much credit in thinking this was awarded to MM to balance out a few disgruntled people who have posted here. He got the award because he deserved it whether you agree or not.

So easy to say. Release the parent surveys Corby. Prove it.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:38 pm Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. You are delusional! “a few disgruntled parents” give me a break! Please yes! Send out the survey.
Parents from other age groups are even aware of MM. Coaches from other centres in York Regain are even disgusted by him and say he’s an a**hole. Who else has heard of a team loosing 12 players all at once? Wake. The. F**k. Up. AMHA
Re: Aurora Hockey
Such a cringe post from today. Of a "thriving" association of 1000+ members, only 19 likes. The majority of people are disgusted. The mere act of your post from today, in spite of literally 85% of this man's team leaving scathing feedback of him in surveys, is just unbelievable. Add to that, the same 85% running for the hills and signing with other organizations. Does the AMHA not realize how stupid they look? Keep thinking these posts are from the minority. They're not. You'll see soon when your org is bankrupt.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:59 pmOKGuest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:38 pm Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. Why is a sitting board member receiving an internal volunteer award?Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:38 pm Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. For an internal award, it should not be given to someone on the current, sitting executive. It should be for someone coaching or helping out that is not connected to the board or if you want to award it to a board member, it should be to someone who has retired from the board but has also contributed more than attending a few meetings a year for many many years.
It just gives off bad vibes like giving coaching jobs to people on the executive who don't have the experience.
If it's an external award given to your board member, then have at it. Shout it from the rooftops!
This just gives bad vibes that you are honoring such a controversial figure. I get that not everyone is liked but if you have families leaving in droves because of them and there is a lot of negative feedback in parent surveys, kinda tells you something.
I know of a very similar situation where parent feedback surveys were done this year and there was an assistant coach who received a lot of negative feedback and families were ready to leave if they were named head coach. Guess what, they completely ignored the feedback, because they were on the executive and you know what, 6+ families ended up leaving, trying out elsewhere.
The issue with the boards is that there aren't enough outside people stepping up and getting involved. The ones that do get involved normally are "buddy-buddy" with the executive and are allowed in because the know they will tow the company line.
How pathetic is this and how pathetic is minor hockey!
