an OMHA parent researching teams, focusing on development and team atmosphere over standings. The further west, the better. We watched ST’s practice and game, and to put it politely, it was disappointing—especially the coach who was shouting all the time while kids were ignoring him like they got used to that treatment and were just doing their own things . On the other hand, MNS and TE looked much better, with MNS being preferable due to its location. Are these teams actually strong programs, or did we just catch them on a good day?
Is it even worth trying to get real info about MB and MT here, or is it just the usual biased takes?

You for sure cannot believe anything on here ! It’s a trash talking site. Best way is to talk to people you trust and go out and see some games (or watch past live barn games). In all honestly the top 6/7 teams are all good - all have their uptick and all have their downfalls but solid hockey and decent coaching. Speak to the coaches too - might give you a better idea, and get out to any skates coming up

MT and MB have two of the better coaching staffs, if I remember correctly MB is full non-parent, MT is ran by non parent but parents are on bench
MB pushed 3 or 4 kids to AAA and still a good program, kids seem to enjoy playing for them.

MT has a good team, strong defensively but goalies are a bit weaker. The core kids love the program, but have heard there's a few looking for AAA

Downside to MB, head coach has 2 teams, I hear he prioritized his older team.
Downside to MT, Assistant coach is a screamer

This is great. I haven’t come on here in weeks but as the founding father of the 4/10 MOB comment I really happy I’m leaving quite the legacy

At least the MOT aren't 4/10s

Completely irrelevant but if we're calling the MOB 4 out of 10 whats MT? I've seen a few moms that look like dogs wearing blue and white.. guess that's why they are called Terriers lol
Oh yeah, we’re ugly and you’re pretty. See we can both lie.

Since this is a parent chat. Let's rank the parent groups.

1.) HVS - Graces in Victory, Humble in Defeat
2.) WML - no crying about the losing.
3.) TE - Well deserved success, parents don't cause issues
4.) FT - No headaches, couple problem parents/kids but most part friendly
5.) TW - Obnoxious, Cocky, but every right to be.
MB - Get worst name then they deserve, loud but respectful
6.) MB - Get worst name then they deserve, loud but respectful
7.) MNS - Still think they are better than they are. Few complainers but not awful
8.) MT - Everytime they play, doesn't matter who the opponent is there are problems. Loud, screamers who complain when they get touched but then complain when the ref calls anything against them.
9.) ST - Toxic, maybe it's due to coaching chaos but the families here have been nothing but trouble.
10.) VR - This should be no shock. Loud parents swearing at kids, swearing at refs, causes issues with EVERYTEAM. Cocky after one win but then the refs fault when they lose.

Every parent group has a mix of personalities, just like in any environment that you bring people together. Some loud, some quiet, some annoying and most that are wonderful. Show me any team in the GTHL and they have all of the above. But that’s why there are not just kid tryouts and cuts, but parent cuts also.

Don’t rule out going to ST just yet. Their old, problematic coach will likely leave soon, taking the toxic old ladies with him. A new coach may rebuild the team by attracting stronger players and better families. It’s too early to say whether the team will be better, but it will definitely be different. Ignore that steaming falsetto staff—they’ll be gone soon, along with their kids that nobody wants anywhere.
